Actual Dimensions: More Inside Space
Maximize your profit per square foot
Norlake uses actual vs. nominal dimensions. What does that mean? Simply put, if you specify an 8 x 10 walk-in, you’ll get the full 8 x 10 surface area instead of a nominal 7’9” x 9’8” size. That translates into increased shelving space inside your cooler or freezer.
Best Insulation and Airtight Fit: Soft Nose Polyurethane Insulation
Save on both electricity and food waste with high-performance construction
At the heart of all walk-in panels is insulation, and the type of insulation used makes a big difference. While several different kinds of insulation are available, Norlake uses foamed-in-place polyurethane because it provides many advantages over other types, such as polystyrene:
- Highest R-value: polyurethane has the best R-value, which measures a panel’s ability to resist heat flow. This results in optimal energy savings.
- Added strength and reliability: polyurethane foam permanently adheres to metal panels for solid construction.
- Superior moisture resistance: its 97% closed cell content limits the passage of moisture through the panel.
- Fire resistance: Polyurethane is a thermoset material, so it won’t melt. Because of its ability to resist fire, polyurethane earns a UL Class 1 rating.
Polyurethane makes a huge difference in the cost of ownership of a walk-in cooler or freezer. How much can you save? Check out our savings calculator.
Polyurethane insulation allows for soft-nose panel construction, with flexible edges for better fit, increased airtightness, and improved energy efficiency.
To summarize, polyurethane insulation offers:
- The highest reliability
- Lowest total cost of ownership
- And the most eco-friendly insulation available
Superior Durability: Foamed-In-Place Panel Gaskets And Metal Cams
Lower warranty and repair rates mean lower long-term costs
Gaskets and metal cam-locks are foamed in place inside Norlake panels. Unlike polystyrene panels, which require glue to hold gaskets and plastic cams in place, polyurethane permanently holds these components in place during the foaming process, providing superb strength and reliability. Metal cam-locks are also less likely to break during installation.
Maximum Seal: Double Gasket Door Design
Keep the cold in and reduce energy costs
Norlake doors feature double gaskets that require no sealant at the seams, making it easier and faster to assemble your walk-in. The gaskets also provide a more airtight seal to protect your perishables and save energy.
