Remote System Design
Norlake’s Split-Pak A2L split refrigeration systems for walk-ins feature a condensing unit with matching evaporator coil. With outdoor systems, the condensing unit is located away from a walk-in cooler or freezer, usually outside a building or on a roof, while the evaporator coil is inside the walk-in. Indoor models with the condensing unit mounted on top of the walk-in are also available.
Outdoor Units Can’t Be Used Indoors
While A2L refrigerants are classified as low toxicity/low flammability, you must only use A2L refrigeration systems indoors that are fitted with the appropriate components to maximize safety.
Using outdoor condensing units for indoor applications puts you at risk of agency violations and fines.
Norlake Has the Indoor Solution
Not all manufacturers offer indoor A2L systems – Norlake does.
Split-Pak A2L™ remote condensing units are UL certified for indoor applications, making Norlake one of the first manufacturers in the industry to offer this capability.
Indoor systems include integrated refrigerant-leak mitigation devices on evaporator coils and condensing units for maximum safety.
Split-Pak A2L Models Should Be Used When:
- Larger capacity systems are needed
- Height above the walk-in is restricted
- Taking the heat outside and removing load from the HVAC system is important
- Lower noise level inside the space is important
- Un-chilled product is loaded into a walk-in and needs to be pulled down to the appropriate storage temperature
- You expect frequent walk-in door openings
As an exclusive Norlake option, T-Series evaporator coils are mounted on the walk-in exterior ceiling allowing maximum storage space inside.
